Who we are and why we do this

We love what we do. We're a small team of long-time Darwin locals with a genuine passion for top customer service. Our guides all have over 20 years in Darwin, with extensive backgrounds in hospitality and tourism in the USA, Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and beyond. Guides are variously former restaurant and hotel managers, bar managers, chefs, media personalities and prominent local figures. It's our pleasure to serve you in our beloved Darwin, one of the world’s leading tropical destinations.

How we're different

The Soul of the Top End

Our reputation as a premier provider is evidenced by our clientele. We're the trusted choice for travel agents, cruise ships, VIPs, dignitaries, international media, and government departments. We have hosted TV reporters and travel writers looking for the authentic soul of Darwin, as well as high-level convention events requiring seamless, sophisticated service. Every detail is managed by our elite team of guides—all long-term Darwin residents with decades of local knowledge—who provide the kind of nuanced commentary on Aboriginal culture, history, and art that only a true local expert can offer.

Insider information

Experience the "special arrangements" that only true insiders can facilitate, such as sipping premium beverages while gazing over the Arafura Sea or enjoying a private drive through the city's highlights in climate-controlled comfort. From door-to-door transport in modern vehicles to customised itineraries that include private tropical gardens or jumping crocodile excursions, we provide an all-inclusive service that pampers, informs, and satisfies. For the discerning traveller, Darwin Gourmet Tours is not just a tour—it’s an exclusive invitation to the very best of Northern Australia.

Health, Safety and Inclusion

We comply with all directions of the Northern Territory Department of Health, including those regarding Covid-19, recommended vaccinations and hygiene protocols. Contact us before joining the tour if you are feeling unwell. If you have a medical condition we should be aware of, be sure to tell us when you book your tour.

Accessibility for our tours

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our website, including people with disabilities. That's why we're working to make our website easy to use and understand for everyone.

What we're doing

We're following the international guidelines for web accessibility (WCAG 2.1) to make our website:

  • easy to see: We use clear fonts and colours that are easy to read

  • easy to understand: We use simple language and avoid jargon

  • easy to navigate: You can use your keyboard, mouse, or touch screen to move around the website.

We're always working to improve our website's accessibility. If you find anything difficult to use, please let us know!

Our commitment to accessibility

We believe that everyone should have equal access to information and services online. We're committed to making our website accessible to everyone, and we'll continue to work towards meeting the highest accessibility standards. This website is designed to meet the accessibility requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

This means we're following the rules in Australia to make sure our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We're also following international best practices for web accessibility. We know that some parts of our website may not be fully accessible yet.

Access and Inclusion

Our Commitment to Accessible Tourism
We are dedicated to providing welcoming and meaningful tour experiences for all visitors to the Northern Territory. We believe every person should have the opportunity to explore the unique landscapes and rich history of the Top End with dignity and respect. While the remote and rugged nature of the Territory presents inherent accessibility challenges, we are committed to making reasonable adjustments to accommodate the diverse needs of our guests.

Physical Access and Mobility
We use modern, air-conditioned coaches where applicable, prioritizing comfort and safety.

Mobility Devices: If you require the use of a wheelchair, walker, or other mobility aid, please notify us at the time of booking. Due to space limitations on our vehicles, we need advance notice to confirm storage and loading arrangements.

Site Limitations: Please note that many remote sites, lookouts, and natural walking trails in the NT feature uneven surfaces, unpaved tracks, and steps. We cannot guarantee full wheelchair access at every location. Our guides will always point out the most accessible routes available.

Assistance: Our guides are happy to provide assistance and information to ensure your experience is safe and enjoyable.

 Communication and Sensory Needs
Assistance Animals: We welcome all registered and appropriately certified assistance animals on our tours. Please notify us during the booking process.

Hearing & Vision: We are happy to provide verbal information in an accessible manner, and printed materials (where available) can often be provided in larger print upon request.

Booking Process: We are available via phone and email to answer specific accessibility questions, ensuring you have all the necessary information before you commit to a tour.

The Next Step: Plan With Us
To ensure your specific needs are met and we can guarantee a suitable experience, we strongly encourage all guests with accessibility requirements to contact us directly before booking.

This allows us to discuss the physical nature of the sites visited and confirm the best tour option for you.

Cancellations, Booking Amendments and Refunds

If you cancel or amend a booking 48 hours or more before the start of your tour you will receive a full refund. If you cancel or amend a booking fewer than 48 hours before the start of your tour you will be charged 50% of your total cost. If you book a tour but we cancel the tour due to insufficient bookings or for any other reason, you will receive a full refund and the option to book another tour at a discount.
